NFL Power Rankings Week 3

32.

New York Jets (LW: 31)

I dropped them because of their complete inability to move the ball. They can’t score to save their lives. They have a league worst point differential at -50.

31.

Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 32)

I moved them up with a massive amount of reluctance, but I think they can at least score touchdowns sometimes…despite the fact that their QB gives the ball away more than anyone else in the league.

30.

New York Giants (LW: 30)

They stay the same because they are who we thought they were: an overrated team that banks on a RB who is wildly overrated because he has big quads. They took a former Cowboys HC as their OC just because they thought it’d piss them off and all it did was make them incapable of scoring against one of the worst defenses in the league.

29.

Atlanta Falcons (LW: 28)

They couldn’t score on a crippled NYG team. They won so that is good, but they still look awful.

28.

Washington Football Team (LW: 18)

I had them up 10 spots last week due to the hype around their defense. I figured if they can hold teams under 25 points then they could also steal about 8 games, but when their defense couldn’t stop anyone, I don’t have faith in them winning many if any. I said before the season on the podcast: I figured by week 6 they would start bouncing from QB to QB hoping to find something, well they are already on QB 2 and we’ll see if they don’t bring in another soon.

27.

Houston Texans (LW: 29)

It really isn’t their fault that Bill O’Brien left them with no good players, but they at least show a little something on defense. They got crushed by Carolina, but I have faith in them getting into a groove for 3 games at some point this season.

26.

Chicago Bears (LW: 22)

Well Chicago, y’all gave me your new stud that y’all mf said NEEDED to start….and he netted 1 pass yard last week. The defense looks like shit too, and for a team who’s whole mentality is smash mouth defense meets just enough offense…I at least need to see smash mouth defense.

25.

Miami Dolphins (LW: 23)

For a team who had been turning the ship last season, and they finally started to get some skill at the receiver position, to suddenly get worse is sad to see. I get that Tua is hurt, but they didn’t look particularly amazing when he was on the field.

24.

Indianapolis Colts (LW: 16)

This is another team, like the last two, that I gave the benefit of the doubt to because they have a good defense. However, I have very little faith in Wentz and I think that he is proving my skepticism correct.

23.

Detroit Lions (LW: 27)

I’ll give any team a bump that can hold the Ravens down without their star linebacker who they randomly cut after the game. I think the Lions are some dogs on the field, and barring a magical kick, they would have stolen a win from the Ravens.

22.

Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 26)

These guys looked awful vs the Cowboys. They went up against a horribly depleted Dallas front, and they couldn’t run the ball, and they were turned over a few times. They got run through, and they easily could have lost by more.

21.

New England Patriots (LW: 19)

The Mac experience is not awful, but they have no skill in the WR room. Mac had been good at protecting the ball, but I think he has been figured out, and now it’ll go from bad to worse.

20.

New Orleans Saints (LW: 20)

It is hard to rate the Saints right now because I don’t know which Winston we’ll get under center. One week he could throw 5 TDs and the next he throws 3 Ints.

19.

Seattle Seahawks (LW: 17)

I said it on the podcast this week, the Seahawks are frauds. They are pretenders, and some will be fooled into thinking they are good based on historical success, but they could very well be the worst team in their division.

18.

Minnesota Vikings (LW: 24)

Cousins has been one of the best QBs this season in QBR and as long as he isn’t put on during primetime, this trend will continue. I think their offense is good, and their defense is okay, and they are a couple missed field goals away from undefeated.

17.

Las Angeles Chargers (LW: 21)

They showed me a lot this week by beating a super bowl contending team. I can’t get over their Dallas loss, they got sauced by a rookie LB who was playing DE for the first time since high school. It is hard to get over a coach that says you don’t need to run the ball, as a hater of the air raid, I have to see more.

16.

Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 25)

They look great so far. They are starting to bud and I think they are a year or two away from being a big time playoff threat. I think the Chase-Burrow connection is something special and I am glad that we get to watch such a rare treat. How often do two players dominate CFB then come and dominate in the NFL. Eventually the schemes will be tricky and Chase will get the double coverage, but they are so in tune with each other that I expect Chase will get fed.

15.

Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 12)

Honestly, I was soooooo close to putting them below the Bengals. I think the Bills win is holding them up this week, but if they don’t right the ship then they’ll find themselves in free fall.

14.

San Francisco 49ers (LW: 15)

These guys showed a ton of heart to fight back into the game against Green Bay, but it is hard to move them into the top 10 since their defense doesn’t look as dominant as it did 2 years ago, and their run game is massively diminished.

13.

Arizona Cardinals (LW: 14)

I think the Cardinals are amazing. Kyler has been beating up on my teams since we were in high school, he beat my high school every year back then, and I expect that he’ll spoil the Cowboys season at some point this year. I think they are an extremely talented team, but I think there are cracks in the armor that could easily make them a 2-1 or a 1-2 team at this point. I didn’t like that 68 yard kick attempt just because you think you’re going to bully a team. They struggled with the Jags (one of the worst teams) for an entire half of football despite being way overpowered on offense compared to the Jags defense.

12.

Carolina Panthers (LW: 11)

I didn’t drop them because of them, I dropped them because other teams moved up. The Panthers do lose CMC for a little while, and I think right now that drops them a little despite being undefeated. Another thing is that they haven’t played top competition.

11.

Denver Broncos (LW: 13)

The Broncos are largely in the same boat as Carolina. They haven’t played a team with a win yet. That isn’t their fault, and I think it will provide a morale boost that may help against middle of the pack competition.

10.

Las Vegas Raiders (LW: 9)

I am struggling to trust Carr at this current point in time. I think they could be good. This week’s matchup with the Chargers will show me just how good Carr really is. Their defense looks way better than I had expected.

9.

Tennessee Titans (LW: 8)

They still have the most dominant RB on their roster so it is hard to move them very far. They don’t look exceptionally dominant yet. I want to see a little more out of their defense and their offensive line before I feel comfortable moving them up to a true contender status.

8.

Dallas Cowboys (LW: 10)

I came into the season and I started at the end of last year saying: I just want Dak to be okay. Then I got some hype, and I thought maybe we’ll be a little better than just okay. The last 3 games they have played have been very impressive. You can go listen, I said we would lose close to the Bucs early and that we would catch them in the playoffs. Well, I am looking at a very good team, that found a way to win with many DBs out, and found a way to get pressure with missing DL. I don’t know that we will win the super bowl, but I love hoping for it.

7.

Cleveland Browns (LW: 7)

They look really good. I am starting to believe they are the best team in the AFC North. I struggle with the historically bad team turned contender that I am watching. I hope to see them beat some top competition, not just the Bears with a rookie QB.

6.

Green Bay Packers (LW: 6)

Maybe I have fatigue watching Aaron Rogers just do Rogers things. I think it is interesting to watch them go from not caring about week 1 to getting a big time 4th quarter comeback on a very good defense.

5.

Baltimore Ravens (LW: 4)

I could see them falling if they keep giving pretender vibes. I didn’t like watching their play against the Lions; however, I don’t count on dropped balls to always be dropped. One week dropped balls might cost a game, but the next week the connection could be right and all of a sudden they put up 50 points on the same team.

4.

Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 2)

The existence of Mahomes and Hill make it hard to drop them; however, when I saw Mahomes play LSU in the Alamo Bowl, they just covered deep and made him throw it 40 times underneath, and as typical air raid style offense: enough underneath passes will result in stupid turnovers.

3.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 1)

They are a flag and some missed kicks away from being a 1-2 team. They didn’t just get beat this weekend, they got crushed. If that Bucs team shows up at any point in their post-season run they can go ahead and pack it in. I think that they easily could fall out of the top-10.

2.

Buffalo Bills (LW: 3)

I want to put them at number one and they very well might win me over in the next week or two. I love this team. Their running game is good, their passing game is good, and their defense is good. The football team scored in some dookie time, but that game was well in hand last week.

1.

Las Angeles Rams (LW: 5)

I don’t know if I am just thinking with some bias of last week, but the 3 games with McVay already have Stafford in the MVP running, which I love to see. I think they could end up against the Bills in the Super Bowl real easy. I want to see what their team looks like as the season progresses.
