New York Giants v Washington Football Team
Washington Football Team is pretty much a lock to win this game. Daniel Jones is lowkey garbage and the Giants are still suffering from the injuries of last year carried over to this season. Engram is still out, Barkley is dummy overhyped right now, and the rest of the receiving core is subpar.
Washington may not have a functioning offense, but their defense is nasty. I expect them to hold the Giants below 20, and I think the Football Team can win this one 21 – 13.
New England Patriots v New York Jets
Patriots should be able to take this one. The Jets looked like they have found a QB that can run an offense successfully; however, his receivers are liable to lead the league in drops this season. Wilson started 2-10 last week, but many of the incompletions were drops. I am concerned that Eli Moore being late to camp and the Jets already trying to move Wims bodes poorly for Wilsons’ rookie career.
Mac Jones has devoted his time to film study and played a very close game against a much improved Miami team. I expect the Patriots to continue to improve. Their defense is cold blooded and their QB is a student of the game. I don’t love rookie QBs at all….like at all, but one of them has to get their first victory this weekend. Patriots 24-Jets 21.
Denver Broncos v Jacksonville Jaguars
I was mad when the Jags played their starters through the whole first half of the final preseason game just to win against the Dallas practice squad, and they got theirs against arguably the worst team in the league in the Houston Texans. If they can’t steal a win against the horribly depleted Texans, how do they expect to take down the Broncos.
The Broncos come in with a very accurate QB in Teddy, and I think that they’ll run away with the game this weekend. Denver 38 – Jags 16.
Buffalo Bills v Miami Dolphins
The Bills were embarrassed against Pittsburgh. They should have easily gone in and stolen a win. With that loss, I think the Bills bring some tough play into this weekend’s matchups. The Miami Dolphins struggled against the Patriots last week, and they were unable to move the ball well, and I think that the defensive unit of the Bills will provide the same fits for the Dolphins.
Bills 31- Dolphins 20
San Francisco 49ers v Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles looked amazing against the Falcons…but it was the Falcons. It shouldn’t have surprised anyone that the failure of the Atlanta Falcons wasn’t Quinn’s fault. The 49ers have a much more effective offense, a much better defense, and a much better coach than the Falcons. I think we’ll learn a lot about the Eagles this week.
Despite the loss of Mostert, I think the 49ers will rush the ball well. The Falcons have an atrocious run game, and the 49ers are crafty in the way they spread the ball around. It should be an incredible game. d
49ers 31- Eagles 23
Los Angeles Rams v Indianapolis Colts
This may go down as the game of the week. The Colts defense is great, the Rams offense is great with McVay, and the Wentz v Donald fight should be exciting. This is another one of those show me something games. We’ll find out if the Rams are actually a lethal offense in the wake of the Stafford trade. We’ll also learn more about the Colts offense with Wentz.
I enjoy the prospect of a great game, but there’s a lot to learn this weekend. Rams 38 – Colts 13. This score is just based on my distrust of Wentz despite what Cowherd says.
Las Vegas Raiders v Pittsburgh Steelers
The Raiders probably played in the craziest opening Monday night football game in a long time. The Steelers get the benefit of home field advantage, and they also come in with some momentum from their big week one victory over the Bills.
I am interested to find out if the Raiders got lucky that the Ravens were massively banged up or if the Raiders are legitimate contenders in the AFC. Steelers 27 – Raiders 21.
Cincinnati Bengals v Chicago Bears
The Bengals looked hecka good with Chase and Burrow back on the field together, and their opponents this week looked stagnant. I don’t anticipate much to change with the Bengals, Chase will continue to be a lethal threat for Burrows and he’ll continue to work on his drops. I anticipate the Chicago Bears to work Justin Fields more often on offense.
I think this may be effective in some packages, and I think it is good to let him sit on the bench and learn the academic side of the game. Bengals 31 – Bears 27.
Houston Texans v Cleveland Browns
The Houston Texans are far underpowered for this competition. They traded a lot of their talent away last season and they are without their all-star QB this season. I don’t see how the insanely developed Browns team doesn’t win this game. The Browns come in with a chip on their shoulder after their loss to Kansas City.
This game can get massively out of hand in favor of the Browns unless they fail to wake up for the game. Browns 45 – Texans 17.
New Orleans Saints v Carolina Panthers
The Saints looked amazing last week, but I am not sure if that was the Packers sucking or the Saints being great. I anticipate the latter. The Panthers looked fairly good, but they were a few early dropped passes and a rookie mistake away from losing the game to the Jets. I think this is another opportunity for Winston to show his development and have sustained success. Saints 34 – Panthers 16.
Minnesota Vikings v Arizona Cardinals
The Vikings showed a lot in their game against the Bengals, they were down big in the fourth and they clawed back in their overtime loss. The Cardinals were dominant in their victory against the Titans. This feels like a simple decision, if the Cards play nearly as good as they did last week it won’t be close. Cardinals 42 – Vikings 28.
Atlanta Falcons v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Buccaneers 38 – Falcons 0.
The Falcons looked fucking awful against the Eagles and the Buccaneers looked as good as they did in the Super Bowl. The Buccaneers are better than the Eagles, and I don’t think the Falcons stand a chance. I don’t think their big new tight end will turn the tide of this game.
Tennessee Titans v Seattle Seahawks
The Titans are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Cards. There are some questions surrounding the Titans left tackle problems, but I anticipate that Henry will get back on track and be running full speed on Sunday. The Seahawks are a very buttoned up team, but they have some issues at running back.
Both teams have glaring issues, and last season Russ could cook most of the season, but eventually that magic wears off. There are some questions about the quality of both teams, and this will be another one of those “show me” games. Seahawks 28 – Titans 26.
Dallas Cowboys v Los Angeles Chargers
I originally thought that Dallas had this one in the bag. I thought their defense looked amazing compared to last season. They got 3 takeaways against the Buccaneers, and I anticipated them coming up big against Herbert in his second season; however, today it was announced that Dallas’ best edge rusher, D-Law, would be out indefinitely.
With the lack of depth on DL, and the questions still surrounding the Dallas D, I think the game will be closer than anticipated before the season. Cowboys 35 – Chargers 31.
Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens
This was supposed to be the amazing SNF game, but after last week and in the wake of the new injuries on the Ravens side, I don’t anticipate this being nearly as close as it would have been. The Lamar-Hollywood connection looks to have improved, but the running game is diminished in the wake of losing their top two RBs. Chiefs 31 – Ravens 17.
Lamar might not think this game reflects on him vs Mahomes, and he may not think this will hurt his legacy. However, if he continues to lose to Mahomes, he’ll end up falling to the clear second of his generation.
Detroit Lions v Green Bay Packers
Super weird Monday night football selection. Maybe someone thinks this will be the chance for the Lions to upset the Packers, but I can’t remember a time that Rogers lost to the Lions. I think week 1 was a wake up call for the Packers. I think the Lions looked competitive against the 49ers, and we’ll find out who will move up to 1-1.
Lions 27 – Packers 21.
