What a freaking legendary battle.
I mean in the era of explosive offenses, we had the pleasure of Dabo and a dominant offensive coaching staff going toe-to-toe with Dan Lanning and the defensive staff of Georgia.
Georgia’s touchdown came on defense as well, on D.J.’s first college turnover.
Georgia’s defense racked up 7 sacks on D.J. too. It was one of those classic field possession battles.
Clemson’s team feels severely diminished from the years prior. Whether it is their awful line or the outstanding Georgia line, or their abysmal rushing offense, they just didn’t have the dominance that we’re used to seeing from them.
I think we can bet on Dabo shying away from difficult matchups that might expose his team early in the season. Last season they were exposed without Lawrence against Notre Dame, and tonight without Lawrence and Watson under center, Clemson looked flat and lost on offense.
If Georgia can go into a hostile environment and they have the guts for a brutal defensive fight, they might be a force to fear in the SEC…well at least the East.
Alabama may still be the favorite in the SEC/Nation, but if Georgia can work on scoring more than 10 points per game, they will have a chance to contend for not only an SEC title, but a National Title.
