Trevor Lawrence
Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s pretty obvious that the long-haired phenom will be the starter. Minshew can stop up his bowels all day, but that won’t put him under center.
How successful will he be? He’ll be alright I guess… I mean it’s still Jacksonville, they’ve given up many of their stars from their 2018 season. I think the weirdest decision is bringing in his college RB. It could be helpful to have a safety blanket, but lets be real it’ll probably hinder his first year development.
Zach Wilson
New York Jets
What do you want me to say? He’s obviously the starter for the year, but the hope is that he’ll be Baker Mayfield and he’ll bring the club back from QB bankruptcy.
He’s probably going to have two or three okay games, but again its still the Jets. His best receiver, Eli “piss and miss” Moore, showed up to camp late as if anyone thinks he’s something special. His second best receiver, Mimms, is already being counted out by the organization.
Trey Lance
San Francisco 49ers
Despite what the coaching staff says on any given day, Trey Lance is probably going to start 10 games this season. I would like to say because Jimmy G is unable to play and it isn’t his fault, but it’s a play for Coach to change the focus off of his team’s recent failure.
Trey Lance would be better served to be the backup like Pat Mahomes, Rodgers, and Jordan Love. He can continue to develop and get up to NFL speed. However, the 49ers are about to throw him to the wolves and let him get eaten alive.
Justin Fields
Chicago Bears
Fields has a solid defense behind him, but I’m not sure the run game supports him as well as Dak was supported in his first season. As long as his first season is getting acquainted to the league and playing as a talented game-manager, Fields will be a successful first year quarterback.
Mac Jones
New England Patriots
The most slept on first round QB, Mac Jones is playing in the Patriots system, he doesn’t have to be amazing. He just has to manage the game and keep the game in front of him.
The team broke the bank in free agency, they bring back all of their opt-outs, and Billy B has too much pride to let Brady have another good year while he misses the playoffs again.
Kyle Trask
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This kid is not playing as long as Tom Brady exists in one piece.
Davis Mills
Houston Texans
Who the hell knows what is going to happen in Houston?
Is Deshaun playing? If so, Mills can get comfy on the bench. If Deshaun gets out of Texas or if that league investigation brings down a season long suspension, I still have no earthly clue where Davis Mills falls on the depth chart, I guess he could find the field at some point in the year if Watson isn’t available.
Ian Book
New Orleans Saints
Big dog Book is QB3, and he’s a pretty locked in QB3. Winston will take most of the snaps this season, and Hill will fill in where Winston doesn’t play. I don’t think there is enough time in a game for Book to get his hand on the ball.
Kellen Mond
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings broke the bank and sold out for the best noon QB. I don’t think Mond is playing this year, but in future seasons he may come up.
Sam Ehlinger
Indianapolis Colts
Sure Eason is technically QB2, but according to team sources Ehlinger has taken over QB1 snaps since Wentz has been out. This tells me that Ehlinger has already moved up in position, given Wentz injury history, I could see Sam moving up to QB1 at some point.
I guess we’ll find out which stereotype remains this year:
Does the University of Texas keep churning out career backups?
or
Will Wentz continue to be the most consistently injured QB in the NFL (close competition between him and Jimmy G)?
